SEPTEMBER 2017
KNOB CREEK PRIVATE BARREL SELECTION
A small group traveled to the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky on a beautiful Friday in September. We selected a delicious bourbon from among the three barrels we tasted. After the tasting, we enjoyed a BBQ lunch and a tour of the distillery. Then we helped bottle the bourbon.
Our barrel of Knob Creek bourbon was created March 6, 2008 from a mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, and was aged 9.5 years in a #4 char barrel. It was at 127.8 proof when we tasted it. The barrel was stored on the 5th floor of Warehouse E, rack/tier (23)1, Lot 08C06. It was a very full barrel, yielding about 180 bottles. It was bottled at 120 proof in 750ml bottles. Each bottle has a metal plate with the barrel number and noting that it was selected by the Bourbon Brotherhood.
