Before the new distillery even opened to the public, Rabbit Hole hosted the Bourbon Brotherhood as the first large group to hold an event there and it was a first-class experience. 100 members arrived to view the new $15 million, 55,000-square-foot distillery in Louisville with the capacity to produce 20,000 barrels per year.
While most distilleries feature charming antique brick, Rabbit Hole took a very different approach. The building is a modern glass and steel cathedral to whiskey making. It was designed with the visitor experience as an integral component of the architecture. The walkways take you in and around all the distilling equipment. You can even watch the grain being transferred under your feet through a glass floor. It's all very "Willy Wonka".
Upon arrival we were provided a tasting of their bourbon and rye products. Then we departed in groups of 25 to tour the distillery. The tour ended at the Overlook lounge on the third floor. It's a very large event space with an awesome bar and even an outdoor balcony with breathtaking views North to the Big Four Bridge and West toward downtown.
Our speaker was Kaveh Zamanian, Founder & CEO of Rabbit Hole Distilling. We enjoyed a buffet of veggies, sandwiches and shrimp. And we had awesome door prizes as always.
