Since 1795, seven generations of the Beam family have been making whiskey for the company we know as Jim Beam. We gathered in the Jim Beam offices on Fourth Street and enjoyed a welcome cocktail and an excellent variety of foods from Gordon-Biersch.
Beam Suntory's Kentucky Bourbon Ambassador, Beth Burrows, designed a unique historical tasting that brought us through the rich history of the Beam family, intertwined with American history and using several Beam Family bourbons to tell the story in a special sensory experience.
We will also took a trip downstairs to the Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse which features a fantastic visitor experience complete with a small working distillery, and a build-your-own-bottle experience that can be filled with bourbon exclusively available at this location. They also have interactive kiosks, cocktail recipes you can download directly to your email, Jim Beam merchandise and bottle engraving.
At the Urban Stillhouse, we were provided with all the materials and instructions for making a refreshing cocktail, and we even got to keep the glass!
In addition to a vast collection of door prizes, we also held a raffle for a Jim Beam oak wristwatch. The raffle raised $358 to benefit the Coalition for the Homeless!
