Several months later, the Bourbon Brotherhood and Whisky Chicks joined forces to host the annual Bourbon Mixer event. The event was a huge success and raised an additional $15,000 for Best Buddies Kentucky!

The $100,000 grant will allow Best Buddies Kentucky to immediately hire a third staff member to provide programs to kids in Louisville area middle schools and high schools who have been on a waiting list to establish chapters.   To top it all off, NASCAR sponsor Toyota is giving Daniel a 2015 Toyota Camry.  Daniel gave the car to his mom, Lois, who has loved and supported him throughout his life, and never put limits on what was possible.

Bourbon Brotherhood Founder, Bruce Corwin, had dinner with Daniel and he proudly showed off the trophy that he brought home from Las Vegas, and took the opportunity to show his appreciation to his supporters who made this possible.

“I am so honored by this award,” Daniel said in a statement. “I helped found Best Buddies Kentucky five years ago and I want to give back to an organization that has changed my life.  I have learned to be a strong advocate for myself and others with disabilities, but most of all, I have made special friendships.  I want to expand programs to make friendships possible for everyone. It’s like a dream come true to win this award to show the world how much someone with intellectual and developmental disabilities can accomplish.”
